Welcome to Dargah Abul Fazlil Abbas

About Us

Faith. Service. Legacy. Inspired by Hazrat Abul Fazlil Abbas (AS).

Our Vision

With deep gratitude to the Almighty, we are honoured to bring to life the vision of Dargah-e-Abul Fazlil Abbas (AS) — the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in Sydney, Australia, this sacred space is inspired by the blessed shrine of Karbala and aims to serve as a spiritual sanctuary where believers can gather to pray, reflect, and seek divine assistance for their hopes and desires.

But our vision reaches far beyond the walls of a dargah. We are building a holistic, faith-driven community hub where spiritual growth is woven together with education, cultural preservation, and compassionate service. At the heart of this vision is the establishment of a school rooted in the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (AS) and inspired by the academic excellence of the Japanese education system. The school will nurture both the hearts and minds of young students, combining moral values, intellectual development, and real-world skills from the age of 14 through structured work experience.

Our commitment extends to every generation. We envision a retirement village and nursing home that offers care with dignity — designed to meet the spiritual, dietary, and cultural needs of Muslims and non-Muslims alike, with halal and vegetarian options and services grounded in compassion and respect.

Looking ahead, we aspire to create a self-sustained suburb where the Indo-Pakistani lifestyle and values can flourish. This vision includes essential services, community spaces, and a dedicated cemetery on 50 acres of land — a sacred space that respects and preserves our religious rites and traditions.

In addition, we are passionately devoted to orphan care. Our long-term goal is to build a world-class orphan centre that provides children with the highest standards of education, emotional support, and character development. We aim to empower these children to compete with graduates from the world's top institutions — from Harvard to Oxford — while staying grounded in faith and ethics.

At the core of everything we do is the enduring legacy of Hazrat Abul Fazlil Abbas (AS) — a symbol of loyalty, bravery, and selfless service. Inspired by his example, we are building not just a space, but a legacy of unity, compassion, and purpose for generations to come.

Syed Asim Raza

Founder

Arriving in Australia in 1990 as an international student, I gradually built a life rooted in hard work, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose. In the years that followed, I worked across a variety of fields, gaining invaluable experience that ultimately led to the establishment of my own cleaning and security manpower businesses in 2000.

Beyond my professional pursuits, community service and religious engagement have always been close to my heart. Since 2001, I have been actively involved with Shia organisations in both Australia and Pakistan, dedicating my time to supporting faith-based initiatives and serving the broader community.

Recognising the growing spiritual and social needs of the local Muslim population, particularly in the Parramatta area, I was part of a collective effort in 2016 to establish a multicultural, faith-based organisation. Our vision has always been to foster unity, peace, and mutual understanding among people of all backgrounds and beliefs. This vision inspired the development of the Dargah project — a sacred, inclusive space where individuals of any faith or religion are welcome to come, reflect, and pray for wellness and a better life. Insha'Allah, Dargah will soon be moving to its own permanent premises in Merrylands, marking a significant milestone in our journey.

Our primary focus — though not our only one — is to support and empower new immigrants and existing families from Indo-Pakistani backgrounds by helping them assimilate into Australian society, while preserving our rich religious and cultural identity rooted in the message of Ahlul Bayt (AS).

With the grace of the Almighty and the generous support of like-minded individuals, our organisation has extended its efforts to various humanitarian causes. These include constructing water wells in underserved areas, supporting orphan care centres, and providing essential supplies such as food, groceries, and medical aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our ongoing commitment also includes serving free meals to the homeless and vulnerable members of society — staying true to the values of compassion, inclusion, and service that have guided our journey from the very beginning.
